Friday, February 1/2013

January had ended and February is upon us.  Man, the time is flying by.  It will only be a matter of about 10 weeks and we will be headed back home.  Until then, we hope to be enjoying the warmer weather that Arizona has to offer.  It is still very cold back home but it looks like they too will soon be out of their cold spell.
Today, I awoke to sunshine and it is supposed to be quite nice.  The cold weather is supposed to have moved on and there is nothing but sunny skies in store for us.  Now that is a good thing!!
I took the chicken wings out of the freezer yesterday so that they could thaw as I am planning on making Japanese Chicken Wings for Ray and Kay's Superbowl party on Sunday.  I think I will get them all made up  on Saturday.  That way, they can just be heated or, eaten cold on Sunday.  I also want to make veggie tray.  Finger food is the theme of the day.
When Kay and I were scrounging at the antique store the other day we saw, and sat in two swivel chairs.  They were bar chairs and were quite comfortable to sit in.  At the time, I did not even think about the man cave back home so did not think to ask the cost of these chairs.  When we arrived back at the bus and mentioned all the different things we saw to John and Ray,  John asked if the chairs would have been good for the man cave, I thought.....yes they would be!!  So, today Kay and I headed back to "The Treasure Chest" and purchased both the chairs.
Back at the bus, we unloaded the chairs and realized that it was time for the birds to be fed.  While Kay and I were sitting, enjoying the afternoon sunshine, we realized that we should have taken the beer cans in to the recycler.  Kay, not being one to just leave things for tomorrow, suggested we load the bags and recycle them today.   It didn't take long before we were headed back to town with our's, their's and Mitch's cans in the back of the truck.  We now have an official beer fund started!!
Back at the bus, we once again settled into our chairs to watch both the birds and the javelina.  No coyotes were seen tonight but the javelina we call "Paki Dot" appeared.  This particular javalina has a very distinct dark spot on his nose - hence, the name.  We have not seen this one for a few weeks and have been wondering if he had somehow met his demise.  Apparently not!!  It was good to see him but he was rather skittish so he obviously has not been around humans for a while.
It soon got too chilly to remain outside and since it was time for supper, we went our separate ways.  John cooked a steak and did baked potatoes.   The steak was cooked to perfection - tender and delicious.
Kay text us after supper and she soon joined us in the trailer where it was time for cards.  She has been itching to get my "greenbacks" back into her own little stash of quarters.  She hates to lose - even if it is "My" money she is losing!!  Mitch joined us as well and the four of us sat around and enjoyed several games.
I ended the evening on a winning note so that was a good time to call it a day and head to bed.  It wasn't too long before I heard John come in then he too headed to bed.
All in all, it was another good day.
