Sunday, February 15/2015 - Saturday, February 21/2015

The weather continues to be awesome with the temperatures climbing higher and higher. This of course is both good and bad. Good cause it is beautiful but BAD because it brings out all the nasty little creatures like scorpions, spiders and rattlesnakes. There was a black widow sitting on a box by the fireplace yesterday and she was quickly incinerated before she could get away. Nasty ass creatures!! Do Not come into this yard unless you want to end up dead!!
The sutures in John's thumb were removed this week (I left them in a few days longer to give it a few extra days of healing). It looked pretty good but remains quite swollen. It will need to be babied for a  while yet.
The bathroom is now complete. The trim is up and all the necessary caulking has been done.  Man, what a job!! The towel rack still needs to go up but for the most part, it is done!!  Woo Hoo!!
The washer and dryer is next on the list. There is still no power to the dryer and that seems to be quite an issue!! John has hooked it up twice now and for some reason....no power!! Now, I think we have to once again, crawl under the trailer and try and find the proper wire!! Oh Ya, guess who is elected to go under the trailer with all the rats and bats and elephants....not to mention the spiders, scorpions and snakes!! Jesus, the things I will do just to have a laundry room!!
We had visitors this week. Larry and Ariane came for a visit.  They are staying in Mesa for the winter and seem to be enjoying it. They are headed back to Canada the first of April as they have a wedding to attend to shortly after they get home. Of course it is always good to visit with The Zerr's as they always have funny stories to tell us of their adventures!! This visit was no different!!
Once again, a busy week but a good one none the less.

Sunday, February 8/2015 - Saturday, February 14/2015

The start of another busy week is upon us. I tried a new recipe for blueberry muffins on Sunday and man, did they ever turn out good.
It was a day of rest today so no renovations done. It  was good just to sit and relax.
This week found us back in the bathroom finishing up all the necessary projects. The door was installed and most of the trim put up. Man, that is one tedious job but it is slowly getting there!!
We got another load of wood this week as well. With a campfire almost every night, it isn't taking too long to burn through our wood pile!! Marybeth comes over most nights so we get to catch up on the latest gossip around town!!
John's thumb is slowly getting better but, it has certainly been getting in the way a lot. He has "banged" it more times than he wants to remember!! Hopefully, it continues to improve and the sutures can come out on Friday as scheduled.
We discovered a leak under the trailer where the new pipes were installed so I phoned the plumber dude and it took him a few days to get someone over here to fix it. It was an elbow joint leaking and was an easy fix.
Gold Rush Days started in town on Friday and the town's population exploded with many visitors coming for the festivities. It was VERY busy in town and the cops were out in great numbers trying to keep things under control.
We celebrated John's 60th Birthday on Friday by spending the night on the town. It was a lot of fun and we were fed and watered and back home safely by midnight. Man, what a gong show in town though!! There were people everywhere and the bars were pretty packed. We had Mitch drive us into town then took a cab home. It would be a real bad idea to drive drunk around here, especially during Gold Rush.
All in all, it was a pretty good week. The weather has been awesome and I have now started on my suntan so that I can make Kimmy jealous when I get home!!

Sunday, February 1/2015 - Saturday, February 7/2015

It is Superbowl Sunday today but before we can sit and enjoy the game, Kay and I are up early to drive Lorne and Marilyn to the airport. We left at 6:30 as they had to be there by 8:00. There was a fog advisory out and we were lucky enough not to hit any until we actually got to the city. It was pretty thick in some areas but we managed to get to the airport in good time. Kay and I are becoming pretty good at dropping off and picking folks up at the various terminals!!
Once we dropped Lorne and Marilyn off, we headed to Denny's for breakfast then hit Beverages and More (BevMo) for some much needed liquid refreshments for the Superbowl then we hit a Walmart and headed home.
The fog had burned off before we arrived at Walmart so it was smooth sailing all the way home.       We did encounter a rather rude driver on the way home. Man, talk about someone in a hurry. The traffic was backed up a bit through the construction zone and this idiot behind us was waving his arms around and carrying on. Of course there was no where for anyone to go but that didn't stop him from taking off his hat and chucking it on the seat behind him and continuing to rant and rave inside the cab of his truck!!  Before we knew it, he was stomping on his gas pedal and ended up passing the offending traffic on the right hand shoulder!! Man....how do you say Road Rage. He continued
hammer down and it wasn't too long before he was out of sight!! Now, where is a cop, when you need one?  After this incident, our ride home was uneventful and down right boring!!
John and I finally got the shower stall completely installed and now all that remains is for the taps to be installed and then it will be usable. It looks good despite all the issues we had installing the bloody thing!!
It was soon time for the Superbowl festivities and we finally got to sit and enjoy the day. John cooked some ribs on the Bbq and they were awesome (as usual) and I got the potato salad ready.     With that done, our guests could eat when ever they wanted and it actually worked out very well.
My Seattle Seahawks lost the game but I must say, it was a good game.
The Plumbers arrived early Monday morning to finish the bathroom. They did not show up last Friday because one of their wives ended up in the hospital so that put the kibosh on their Friday workday.
Soon after the work was complete the "big" boss came along with the bill for the work and of course there was a discrepancy in the number of hours that the plumbers worked. He was planning on gouging us for an extra 10 hours!! WHAT!!  Fortunately, I had kept track of the hours that the guys had worked so once we had that straightened out, we were all good to go.
John got busy installing the water taps for the bathtub and prepared to do the "trim" work around the tub. It is all finally coming together.
Tuesday found us busy painting the Varathane onto the walls.  I had stained them earlier so once we had three coats of that on, we were good to go ahead and finish the ceiling.
Kay and I headed into town Tuesday afternoon and before we got there, we received an ominous text from John saying to come right home and to hurry. Shit, Oh Dear, now what!!
John had managed to damn near cut his left thumb off so we headed to the hospital where they sutured the laceration closed, put a cast on it and referred him to a specialist as he had severed his extensor tendon as well!!  Shit, Oh Dear again!!  The bathroom renovations were at a standstill.
On Thursday, John saw the specialist and opted not to have any surgery to repair the tendon. I think the four weeks in a cast and the six to eight weeks of physiotherapy sealed that deal!!
By Saturday, we had the bathroom almost done. There needs to be a few more coats of Varathane put onto the floor and the trim needs to be put up but at least we once again, have a fully functioning bathroom. Woo Hoo.......Life is good!!
Despite the pitfalls of this week, we did manage to get a lot of work done.

Just the trim to finish
Man, these renovations are almost done!!

Sunday, January 25/2015 - Saturday, January 31/2015

The bathroom renovations continued this week. John now has the place wired and the hookup for the dryer done. All we are waiting for now is the plumber to come and I will be calling him on Monday.
The weather has been great but we did experience a very cloudy start to the week. Hopefully, we will not see any rain until all the wood has been used and the walls in the bathroom complete.
The plumbers arrived on Wednesday and have now been working on replacing the water lines and the sewer lines. Hopefully they are done soon. I have been without a bathroom in the trailer for too long now. Thankfully, we have the camper so all in not a total loss.
Lorne and Marilyn arrived this week. They had a good trip down and are now just chilling for a few days before Kay and I drive them to the airport on the the first of February.
The rain arrived on Thursday evening and continued throughout the night and all day Friday. According to the weather reports, Saturday does not look much different. Thankfully, all the wood has been used and is now either on the walls or the floor of the bathroom and the few remaining 2x4s are tucked away all nice and dry.
The birds are not appreciating the rainy weather but that certainly did not stop the woodpecker from hanging upside down on the hummingbird feeder to grab a sweet treat!! What a goof!!
The plumbers did not show up on Friday or Saturday but I will be thankful that they got the toilet installed and functioning before they left!! I sure am missing my tub though!!
Lorne and Marilyn have visited every evening since they arrived and that has been a lot of fun. Tomorrow Kay and I will be driving them to Sky Harbour Airport in Phoenix to catch their plane for Mexico. It will be an early day!!
