John up early and off to see the family physician again today. I don't think John has been up before 8:30 in the morning in the last six months!! Talk about a shock to his system!!
Back from the doc and with the remaining staples removed and a bit of tweeking of the prescriptions we were out of there and back to the motorhome within an hour. With John settled in the bus, Ariane and I went shopping. It has been a while since the two of us hit the stores. It was fun.
The weather is lousy - rain continues again today - I think I heard something about snow - YEAH!!

Hogan and I were up early and since John will not be up for several hours yet the two of us headed over to my sister's (Jan's) for coffee and I just had a couple of loads of laundry in the truck!! Imagine that!!!
We spent the morning with Jan, my niece Erin and her two boys Ronin and Caelan. What a couple of bundles of energy those boys are. Hogan loves them and certainly is not stingy with all his long tongued kisses!!
Once back at the bus, John had just woke up and stayed up for about 3 1/2 hours then headed back to bed. I think I have a few issues with the new painkillers that John had been put on. Good thing we have an appointment with the doctor tomorrow.

Quiet day today. Once John was awake and settled in his chair, I headed to the pharmacy to fill the prescriptions from yesterday and make a quick stop at Walmart. Shelly and I will be planting a bit of a garden at Leoville this summer, so I picked up a few seed potatoes and some onions.
Back at the bus, John not too terribly energetic - spent the night watching TV.

Tuesday, April 27/2010

Today is the day that John sees his family physician so hopefully we will get the ball rolling on the orthopedic surgeon that needs to be seen. I must remember to take the CD's of John's xrays and CT scans for Dallas. I must take my list of questions so that I don't forget to ask him all the stuff that needs to be asked.
The sun is shining today so I may not have to split the leg of one of the pairs of sweats that John has - his shorts still may do the trick. We will see though - it may be a lot cooler by the time 4:30 rolls along.
Back from the doctors with a few prescriptions and a return appointment in three days. Guess we may not be going to the Great North on the weekend. Dallas will try to make an appt with one of the orthopedic surgeons as soon as he can. Dallas thinks that the external apparatus will stay on for at least eight to ten weeks. John exhausted by the time he returned to the motorhome and darn near passed out when he finally got to bus. He really has no stamina as yet.
Arnie, Nick and Morgan stopped by and picked up the trailer so that they could take it up to Leoville for us. Hopefully we will not be too far behind.
Casey came for supper and stayed to watch the hockey game with John. Me, I wanted to watch American Idol!!

Monday April 26/2010

Today was spent scurrying around dealing with income tax, picking up 6 months worth of mail, having coffee with Jan and getting ready to receive guests again tonight. Arnie and Shelly are coming over and it will be wonderful to see them again. I took a load of laundry over to Jan's and while I was having coffee, washed and dried the load and chatted with her and Erin and those two wonderful little nephews of mine (not that they were chatting much anyway!!). Ron decided to come over to the bus and see John so that worked out real well - he wasn't alone for very long while I was out.
Arnie and Shelly arrived with Miss Morgan in tow and it was a nice surprise to see her too. She is just now starting to feel better after her bout with strep throat. Nasty Stuff!! We made plans for getting us up to Leoville so that we can truly settle in for the summer and it makes me sad to hear John say that he will have to stay at the yard while we head out into the trails this summer.
Oh well, I guess if he concentrates on healing his leg this summer then he can be ready to go by next summer. Life sucks sometimes.
Shelly and I discussed the garden and agreed that we would go ahead with it as I will be there to tend it and it would give me something to occupy my time with. I am excited about that - I love mucking in the garden!! We will have wonderful fresh vegetables for the season!!

What a relief it is to just spend the day not driving. We can just sit and relax. We are home!!
It is cold here though (it snowed last night) and I am currently heading to Walmart to purchase a couple of small electric heaters to keep the chill out of the bus. Remember me saying this is not a cold weather bus?
Heaters in hand, I head back to the bus and wouldn't you know --- one heater is defective so had to return it and finally made it back to the bus before dark!!! Well maybe not that late!! Both work well except we tend to blow Larry's breaker in the house so I guess one will have to do.
The weather is supposed to improve as the week goes on so that is good.
Casey dropped by for a visit and we had a good chat. Sounds like he is ready to stop fooling around and actually get a decent job and start engaging in life. Man, raising kids can certainly give you grey hair!! Thank God for Miss Clairol!!!
I drove Casey home and then snuggled into bed all the while thinking "I'm home"!!!

Woke up early, ready to start this rig and head home - only one problem - the guys are still sleeping!! If I make enough noise, I am sure I can wake them both up!! The great thing about this spot in Turner Montana is that I can let the dog out and he can run and get some much needed exercise without the risk of getting hurt or run over. Turner has this user friendly rest area, complete with grass and the occasional rabbit to entertain Hogan. Too bad we are in such a hurry to get home!!
Once the boys finally got up and the bus made "road ready" (no flying objects while driving), Jace turned the key and NO GO!!!! Pardon!!! The engine was dead - WHAT --- I'm 15 miles from Canada and we are broke down!!! In my horror, I look accusingly at John - "this is all your fault" I think.....I should really give that leg of yours a smack!!
Between John and Jace they did figure out the problem and we were finally on our way HOME. What a lovely word!!
Next hurdle - the border crossing and the custom's officials. Sailed through without any problems - had to pay duty on the extra booze we brought home but other than that it was a breeze. We are finally back in Canada - thank you Lord and thank you Jace for coming to save Dad's and my ass!!
It was 6:30 by the time we were finally settled into Larry and Ariane's driveway. Casey was there waiting to help with what needed to be done and John and I just sat there looking like the King and Queen!! We had lots of company and John was quite tired when finally everyone left. I am sure glad to be home and will sleep well tonight.

Friday, April 23/2010

Hogan and I are once again up early - John slept poorly again last night so I filled him full of drugs in the hopes that he will sleep for a few hours before we get back to driving. Jace of course is still asleep. Since I had checked the email and facebook, I decided to upload the remaining pictures to the blog and ended up posting them on the wrong date (me bad!!). Oh well, at least they are posted. Once the guys were up it didn't take long before we were on our way - homeward bound. Today we had the pleasure of driving in the sunshine. We have finally left the rain behind. Travelled from Butte, Montana to Truner, Montana with a much needed stop at Walmart. We are about 20 miles from the Canadian border. Tomorrow we will be home in Saskatoon!!! Yeah!!

Thursday, April 22/2010

Up early and a quick breakfast over with - we were on the road again. Once again, we travelled through rain and SNOW!!!! Have I ever mentioned that I hate driving through snow!! We arrived just outside of Butte, Montana for the night - even close to home tonight!! It was a long day and John is exhausted (although he doesn't like to admit it). In case you are actually following the day to day rambles of our trip home you may notice that the pictures do not necessarily follow the dates. There of course, is a good reason for this --- someone (me) posted them on the wrong date - a faux pas that I am sure John will be pointing out to me!!!!

Wednesday, April 21/2010

I awoke this morning to the sound of rain on the roof of the bus. It started sometime during the night and continued into the morning. We drove most of the day yesterday with an ugly wind so hopefully today will be better.
I checked the emails, answered a few and tried to upload some pics to the blog however, that did not go to well so will have to try again later. Sometimes these pics upload without any problems and the next time it is like pulling teeth!!
Arrived just outside of Salt Lake City, Utah at the Cabella's store. Jace and I spent two and a half hours checking out all the neat stuff. He saw a pink Cabella's folding lawn chair that he thought would be great for Brianne so decided to buy it - the problem was.... the only one left was the floor model --- which is currently in the bay under the motorhome!! I can't believe we did that!!
We travelled all day in rain and once we climbed into the mountains, it turned to snow ------ GREAT!! I told Jace we were not going to do any snow on the way home!!! He never did listen!! Anyway, we managed to traverse the roads with no problems. Home is closer tonight.
