Sunday, March 4/2018 - Saturday, March 10/2018

Sunday found Jace and Kimmy headed off to the drag races while Scott, Jill and Tessa decided to hit the quad trails and have an adventure of their own.
The races were great and apparently Scott and Jill found some good trails so everyone had a great day.
Kay and I headed into Wickenburg to shop and Mitch brought Kay's sister Kim out so she could visit for a few days.  Kim has to head back to Ontario on Wednesday and it looks like Kay and I will be driving her in.
Scott and Jill are scheduled to head to the airport on Wednesday as well and Jace and Kimmy will be taking them in the morning to catch their flight.
On Monday, we all headed over to the canyon.   We will head out the same way we took James and Belle and their kids and I hope the kids will enjoy the day.   Lorne, Marilyn and I took  Neena in their truck and John and Booko took the jeep.  Kay and her sister Kim took Henrietta, Jace and Kimmy took Kermit and Scott, Jill and Tessa climbed into their RZR (Jace and Kimmy hauled it down behind their truck).  We made a stop at Stanton Ghost Town and then headed over to the canyon.  It was a beautiful day for a ride and when we arrived at the canyon, we were the only ones there so,  set up our chairs along the Hassayamppa River and watched the dogs and Tessa play in the water.
The river was flowing about four feet wide and about 6 inches deep so it was awesome for everyone!! We spent the day and all too soon it was time to pack up and head for home.  It had been a good day and fun was had by all.
We had a bit of drama on the way home when kermit blew a hose but John and Jace managed to make the necessary repairs and we all arrived home safe and sound.
On Tuesday, the kids needed more adventure so headed out to the trails again.  It was the last day for Scott and Jill so off they went.  They returned home only to start the gruelling task of packing up as it was an early morning drive to the airport.
On Wednesday, the kids headed out and Kay and I headed into town to visit with Kay and Kim's Pops.  He is in a nursing home now and suffers dementia so it is likely that it will be a brief visit but it will be a necessary one.  He will be 98 years old in September and that alone is pretty remarkable.
Once our visit was over, we headed over to Kay's brother's (Dean) home for Kim to drop off some stuff then headed to the airport to drop her off for her return home to Ontario.
Once that was done, we headed over to Home Depot and Walmart and picked up some supplies then headed for home.   It had been a very long day for all of us!!
Our community sniffles and sneezes have continued and none of us seem to be getting any better. Once again....thanks Kimmy!!  Lorne is covered in spots and looks like he has a plague!!  Good Grief.  Not only that, he has this bloody cold on top of it all!!  We are quite a bunch.  I'm thinking we need to be in quarantine!!
Thursday found us back out on the trails.  It is Jace and Kimmy's last full day here as tomorrow, they start their journey home.  John and Booko took the jeep while Kay and I had Henrietta and Jace and Kimmy were in Kermit.  It was a great ride, the weather was awesome and all was great up until we were almost home and Booko decided to get out of the jeep.  Of course he can't just jump out of the jeep like any normal dog, he had to climb and somehow got his leg caught between the seat and the side.   The poot guy ended up hurting is leg and we were all feeling really bad for him.  Hopefully it is nothing too serious but a trip to the vet may be in our near future.  Booko Bucks is certainly living up to his name!!$$$$$$
Kimmy made an awesome spaghetti supper when we got back and we all pigged out.  I finally learned how to make garlic toast without burning it!!   IMAGINE THAT!!
Friday was bitter sweet.  The kids were packing and getting ready to head back north.  Their vacation was fast coming to an end.  Kimmy was scheduled to be back to work on Monday.  It was going to be a lot quieter around here now that ALL the kids were gone.
With final hugs and "drive carefully" said, they headed out.  Kay then started doing a general clean up in the man cave and I started on the laundry.   No rest for the wicked came to mind but it had been a pretty good week!!
On Saturday, it rained most of the day and we all remained sick!!  Coughing, blowing our noses and feeling generally shitty suited the weather.    Surely the upcoming week is going to be better....right?? Life is Good....with tissue, cough drops, decongestant and echinacea!!

Sunday, Febuary 25/2018 - Saturday, March 3/2018

Jace and Kim arrived
Jace and Kimmy arrived for their Arizona holiday on Sunday and although the weather was a bit nasty, it was WAY BETTER than what they came from.   Apparently the roads were quite nasty on their way down and they were both happy to finally get into the warmer weather.

Playing Bones
Sunday was spent quietly with the kids chilling in the mancave and just resting after their trip down.  Both the kids LOVED the apartment.   Kimmy said it was "happy" and she loved the colors.  They will be quite comfortable there until it is needed for our March rental.
On Monday, Jace and Kimmy headed into Sky Harbour Airport to pick Scott, Jill and Tessa up.  They too are here for a vacation so we are all hoping for better weather.  Before Jace and Kim left for the airport though we took the quads out for a short ride so that Jace could send pictures to Scott while he was sitting on the plane!!

Kay's sister Kim flew in for a visit this weekend and has plans on coming out here for a couple of days too so we will certainly be full as far as accomodations go!!
Jace and Kim brought the game of Bones with them and we had several heated games while they were here.   There was quite a rivalry between Jace and Kay and he even had the balls to challenge her in a game of Horseshoes......such a silly boy!!  Needless to say, Kay beat him rather badly!!  She is pretty deadly when it comes to horseshoes!!
We have had our trailer for sale for a while now and have got a few bites but nothing really serious.   I scooted into town once this week to show it and the kids scooted into town as well for some much needed supplies.....like beer!!
Lorne and Marilyn arrived back from their southern holiday all tanned and rested.  Jace and Kimmy moved to the upper apartment and loved the view from up there.  Although it is nowhere near finished, it still provides the best views of the surrounding desert AND it has a bed, so really.....what more does one need!!  LOL

Kay cooking Tacos
We had a huge "taco" night thanks to Kay.  She knows the kids think that Taco Bell is real tacos so she was on a mission to feed them "real" tacos and of course, they were a hit.   We all pigged out and each of us ate three tacos too many!!  Scotty loved the big grill Kay used for cooking on and decided that it would work great for the lake so bought it from Kay!!  Jace will be hauling it home along with my electric rototiller!!

The kids took several trips out into the desert on the quads this week with one being at midnight!! Actually John and Kay joined then and I stayed home with Scott and Tessa.  Apparently one can not leave the big lights on while having an adult beverage as it kills the battery so Scott's quad had to make an emergency run home for booster cables so that both quads could get back.  Well.....I wasn't with them so was unable to say that there were booster cables in Henrietta all the time so no need to sprint home to get some!!   Oh well...no harm done and everyone made it home safe and sound.
On Saturday the kids went to the rock climbing event in Bagdad called WE ROCK.  They were over there for most of the day and loved it.  They were all amazed at what these vehicles can climb and yes....amazed at the rollovers as well!!  Kimmy and Jill came home supporting some really nice sunburns.
So, another week has come and gone and we are all sniffling and coughing.  Kimmy brought down her cold and saw fit to share it with all of us.  I think Scott, Jill and Tessa are the only ones not affected.  Looks like we are going to be needed lots of tissues and decongestant for this up coming week.........Holy Buckets Kimmy!!      Life is Good.....even with tissue in your hand!!

Sunday, February 18/2018 - Saturday, February 24/2018

Sunday is supposed to be a day of rest but we were busy again!!  Although we goofed around for a good part of the morning, we finished off the day with Marie getting into the new shed and starting to clean it up so that things can be put away neatly and found easily.
Kay was busy with stripping the cabinet doors in the main bathroom until John was ready for her help in putting up more of the ceiling panels in the man cave.  There truly in "no rest for the wicked"!!
We have been having a bit of an issue with Sky (Kay's cat) bringing Kangaroo Rats into the house. She won't eat them, just plays with them.  It really is quite an entertaining game for her.  Kay and I have removed several from her clutches and I must say, Sky, is not particularly pleased with us ruining her fun!  She actually gets quite nasty so we have to put on gloves and go into battle.  It is one of the toughest battles that Kay and I fight!!  We wait each night to see if we get to have an adventure yet again!!

Decorative rock arriving

Monday brought some pretty lousy weather with strong winds and cool temperatures.  It is definitely not a day to spend outside although the shed organizing still needs to be finished.
Kimmy is freaking out as she has looked at the long term weather report and it doesn't look too promising.  She wants heat and I am not sure if the weatherman will cooperate.  Time will tell but I have tried to tell her that we are still 30 degrees warmer than what she is in back home!!
Kay say two huge owls sitting on the power lines one evening this week.   Of course it was dark enough that I couldn't see them very well but they certainly looked big enough to easily handle our little Miss Sky.  She better be careful and we need to be watchful as well.
This week saw us replacing the mattress in the camper by one of the fancy new ones that arrive in a cardboard package and take two days to inflate to its proper size.  I guess Jill and Scott will be the ones trying it out for the first time so we will use them as guinea pigs for now!!
I also had John order me one of those fancy little SunJoe electric rototillers for my garden at home.  It arrived this week and I can hardly wait to get using it!!  No more massive weeds for my garden!! Wink, wink, nod, nod!!
John and Kay continued working on the man cave ceiling while I got busy chopping weeds from around the house and the front deck.  It is a never ending job but one that sooo needed to be done. The kids are scheduled to arrive soon and it will be nice to have the place looking nice when all the company comes.
We got a bunch of used kitchen cabinets from a friend and they currently sit on the back patio.  There are several and they are too big for what we need in the upper apartment.  So.....we are now wondering what the heck we are to do with them.  They truly are an eyesore and we need to get rid of them before the kids arrive.  John put them on the swap pages and we have yet to get any response so if they are not gone by Friday, I will call the Habitat ReStore and they can have them.
Well, Friday arrived and I phoned Habitat and they will pick the cabinets up on Saturday so that is one less headache!!  As it turned out, someone called Friday night asking about the cabinets and when John told the guy they were going to Habitat in the morning, he brought 150 bucks over that night and hauled most of them away.  He will return on Saturday to get the rest and I will let Habitat know that the cabinets are gone.
Kay and I took a quick trip into Home Depot, bought a new toilet for the house and it was installed on Saturday.
I also managed to get the camper cleaned up and ready for Scott, Jill and Tessa.  They will be arriving on Monday.
So....another busy week has come and gone and we are all looking forward to the kids arriving and being able to enjoy their company instead of working, painting and cleaning!!
Life is Good!!
