It was COLD last night and as I look outside this morning, the birds are walking on the frozen dog water!! We slept with the heaters on last night (thank heavens) and it was still a bit chilly in the bus this morning. The temperature was only -5C this morning.
Ben stopped by this morning to see if I wanted to go into town with him so off I went to pick up a few things and keep Ben company. While we were in town, the truck battery died and we ended up having to buy a new one. There was this nice fellow who parked beside us who first tried to boost the battery (to no avail) then had the tools to remove the old one, drive us to Checker Auto Parts to buy a new one, wait for us, drive us back to the truck and then put it in the truck when we returned. Thank You sir!! We were both grateful for the help and gave him $10.00 for his time and effort.
Once we got back to camp, Ben took John over to where Jim was camped as his Jeep refused to start yesterday and he spent a very cold night also. I guess there are big issues with the jeep that require a mechanic. We can lend him a propane heater for the night to stave off the cold.
To our great surprise, the phone rang and it was John's Mom on the line saying they were in Wickenburg. Those two old girls must have been driving like rally racers. They had just crossed into the USA on Monday!! We gave them directions as to how to get to the campsite and they were driving into the campsite in short time!! Not only can they drive on the highway, they can off road as well. It was good to see them and they stayed for coffee and cake but were determined to make it to Coolidge tonight so were gone within the hour!!
Ben had stopped by while the girls were here so he met them also. The only one missing was Trueman and today, he chose to drive by instead of stopping. It was quite busy here while the girls visited and just as they were leaving, Lorne and Marilyn drove up. It was happy hour and we had invited them for supper.
Being so cold out, we sat in the bus with the heaters providing us with much needed warmth. The evening was a lot of fun and as usual, too short!!
