Being in town, I awoke to the sound of diesel engines and slamming doors!! This is definitely NOT the quiet of the desert. I feel great this morning and as I sit and have my morning coffee, I wonder (and worry) how John's leg is feeling this morning (he is still sleeping). He was a dancing fool last night and I know that his leg will be giving him grief today and perhaps for a few days to come.
Being that our brunch time is 11 oclock, John is up and in the shower by 10 and we walk over to the restaurant to meet Lorne and Marilyn. John's leg is aching (no surprise there) and he is really limping today. Dance some more you silly man!! Marilyn is definitely feeling the effects of last night and Lorne seems to have survived unscathed!! John very seldom feels bad after a night of silliness and if it weren't for the leg, he would feel great too. We decide that it is Marilyn who gets the award for feeling the poorest!! They have to leave today as their plane leaves for Mexico tomorrow at 10. Marilyn has plenty of time to fully recover from the "Wickenburg Experience" before touching down in Mexico!!
Once brunch is done, Marilyn and I head across the street for one last shopping spree - we were only going to be a minute!! I should mention now that Marilyn's eyesight is as bad as mine and she too has issues with depth perception and judging steps and curbs. Well, wouldn't you know it....one missed step up onto the curb and down she goes. Fortunately, she was not injured and we were able to continue our shopping. Holy Smokes, if she had broken her leg, I may have had to go to Mexico with Lorne!! That would have been so awful for me!! We left the boys sitting on a bench outside the restaurant while we went shopping and apparently (as the boys say), we took so long, the waitress from the restaurant came outside and offered the guys coffee while they waited for us. I swear we were only gone half an hour!! A fact the boys dispute!!
With our shopping done, we said our goodbyes, wished them a safe trip and headed back to the campsite and blessed peace and quiet.
The sun was shining and it was lovely to sit outside and once again enjoy the beauty of our surrounding. That is, if you could look past the finches sitting in the tree beside us looking rather accusingly at me and waiting for some birdseed. I finally could not stand their sad, hungry looks and filled the feeder!! It is good to be "home".
PS and by the way.... got a text from Casey - he said the truck was involved in a "hit and run" while he was in class the other day and the front bumper has issues..... so the story goes!! It is still drivable and that is lucky for him as he can still get to school. Another gray hair - thanks man, Love You!!
