It is Birthday Party Day today. Shirley still has no clue what is being planned for her. Jeff and Dave are taking her fishing today then coming here for supper and partying after. She will be so surprised.
I finished icing the cake and I must say, it has turned out rather nicely. I hope it tastes as good as it looks!!
With the return of the fishermen (or should I say fisher persons!!) the party started!! They had had a good day on the water and did come back with several fish. Shirley was hoping for a fish fry for supper but had to settle for steak, baked potatoes, salad and cake. Poor Shirley!!
The cake was a hit and I thought Shirley might end up crying when we sang the Happy Birthday song to her. She was seriously touched by our surprise.
Because Jeff had to drive back to Saskatoon, we ate early to accommodate his travel. With supper consumed, he headed for home with a piece of birthday cake, he was too full to eat!!
Because Dave and Shirley had spent so much time on the water today, they were soon tired and headed home. The sun can really do a number on you, especially on the water. Besides catching fish, the high light of their day was seeing a mom bear and three cubs. Now that would have been something to see.
Casey and Tori called and decided to drive up tonight and wanted to know if we would still be awake by the time they got here. Of course, the campfire was awesome and we were sure to still be up.
As it turned out, they arrived less than 2 hours later and of course I had to mention the fact that they had probably been speeding. Not such a good idea considering all the wildlife that would be out and about at that time of night.
Tomorrow will be a busy day so it was not too long before we all headed to bed.
