Sunday at the Park started early. I was up and finished mixing the potato salad, a quick shower and off we went. With cooler, food and chairs in hand, we headed to the Park. We met the locals we have come to regard as friends and the fun started. One of the girls made a whole mess of peach brandy jello shooters and those were enjoyed by all the ladies. They were quite sweet and really not my cup of tea!! We bought Owen (Erika's grandson) an Easter treat bag containing chocolate of course and two hot wheel monster trucks so, that kept him busy for a good part of the day.
The weather was great and the food was incredible. The meat (lamb, pork, beef and chicken) was provided by two families and all the rest was from individual like ourselves. I tasted lamb for the first time and found it quite good - John wasn't really impressed by it - He is rather common though!! There was every conceivable salad and desert on the tables. I even tasted a salad made from the prickly pear cactus. It was quite good.
The Easter Bunny made an appearance and most of the kids were thrilled. The train carried dozens of kids and all had huge smiles on their faces when the ride was over.
It was a wonderful gathering and one got the feeling that it is events like this that really make a small community such as Wickenburg feel like a typical small town where everyone knows and cares about each other. We had a great time. Lots of laughs and memories.
