We will be out of Idaho today and into Utah.
I-15 South takes us right through Salt Lake City so there will be some heavy traffic today. Of course as we got closer to the city, the two lane highway gave way to 4 and 5 lanes. Man, it wasn't even rush hour but there was plenty of activity on the road.
The congestion started at Brigham City and never stopped until we were south of Provo, Utah. We were in heavy traffic for at least two hours.
Finally, we were through and only had to stop for one incident that nearly caused an accident when someone carrying a box spring and mattress in the back of his pick up lost the mattress on the freeway. Shit, Oh Dear....have you not heard of tie downs!! It could have been ugly but I think the only casualty was the mattress!!
We finally pulled into Nephi around 5:00 o'clock. Kay was not home from work yet but we pulled into her park and made ourselves comfortable.
John got the fire pit out as it was still quite pleasant out and there was absolutely NO wind!! Now that in itself is unusual as there is always wind sweeping down off the mountains around here!!
Hogan created some havoc with the cats that Kay has been feeding. He had three of them up in the trees in no time!! They were not impressed by him to say the least.
Johnny B and his girlfriend Tina stopped by to say hello and welcome back and brought a picnic table over for Kay. Apparently she asked him to make her one and he was able to refurbish one he got from the city. He knew that we were due to arrive fairly soon so took the chance and came over tonight. It was good to see them again.
Kay arrived home close to 7:00 o'clock and we sat around the fire until the wind made that pretty much impossible. Smoke does follow beauty and Kay and I were certainly considered beautiful last night!!
I had thrown a lasagna into the oven and made a Caesar salad for supper so that was soon ready for whenever anyone wanted to eat.
It was good to sit and chat again face to face. Texting is fine but nothing replaces actually seeing someone and chatting face to face. We caught up on the news and some of the gossip and it was soon time to call it a day. Kay has to work again tomorrow and I am not sure if she has to work on the weekend or not. It is starting to get chilly out now and I think that is an issue when it comes to pouring asphalt.
Pretty smoggy coming into Salt Lake City
