It is travel day today and we are all making the final preparations.  The trucks are loaded and ready to go.  The trailer is in "travel" mode and the quads are loaded.
The final winterizing has been done to Kay's trailer and it is time to head down the road.
There is a winter weather advisory as well as a wind advisory for this whole area and they say that there is snow on the way.  It is definitely time for us to "get out of Dodge"!!
We were all ready but the cats had decided to be a bit uncooperative.  Corinna was finally corralled and put into the trailer as we thought that would be a good place for them to ride.   She immediately tried to climb the screen and was not very happy about anything.
Mogley decided that he wanted NO part of any of this nonsense and took off under the neighbour's trailer.  He was GONE!!
We waited for about half an hour and there was no way that he was being persuaded to come out from hiding.  Kay was thinking that he could hide out for the rest of the day and that would NOT be a good thing!!
John and I decided to start the journey South with Corinna in the cat carrier inside the trailer.   Kay would wait for Mogs to appear and then follow behind.
As it turned out, she was only about an hour behind us.  Once all the noise and carrying on was done in the park, Mogs came out of hiding and was quickly grabbed and put into the pickup.  Now Mogs and Kay were on their way.....Southbound, away from the impending inclement weather!!
We stopped in Beaver, Utah and waited for Kay.  When she arrived, she thought that it might be better to just leave Mogs in the truck since he had finally settled into "travel mode"!!  Corinna was doing well in the trailer so once we fueled up, it was down the road for us.
We stopped at the Virgin River Recreation Site for the night.  It is just off the interstate at mile marker 18.  This site is situated in the Virgin River Gorge and is a good place to stop for the night.
Just as we entered the gorge there was an amber alert sign all lit up saying that there had been a crash in the gorge and that the interstate was closed ahead.  Well that was not good but we knew we were getting off at mile marker 18 so we hoped that the crash was further down the road.  As it turned out, it was so we simply wheeled off the highway and set up camp in our usual spot.
Kay got a phone call from Brian back at the park wondering if we were all okay.  He had heard about the accident and started to worry so was relieved to find out that we were sitting at our campsite with a fire crackling and a beer in our hands!!  He said it had turned nasty cold in Nephi and we made our get away "just in time"!!  Brian also said that Terry (another one of Kay's friends) had been stopped in the gorge due to the accident.  He is an over-the-road trucker and was currently "shut down".  Kay then contacted Terry to see where he was and he was only a few miles away so we gave him directions on where to find us and it was only a few minutes before he was driving his semi to our campsite!!   He was out of hours on his log so couldn't move until the morning!!  So,  Terry sat around our fire and we were able to enjoy his company for a few hours before it was time for him to head to bed.  He was headed to San Bernadino, California and was hoping to be back home by Friday!!
It was chili for supper and that was pretty darn good.  It certainly hit the spot.
The cats checked out the campsite all evening and were ready for bed when we were.  They have settled quite nicely considering their rough start!!
