Sunday, January 22/2017 - Saturday, January 28/2017

Well, we have all been battling with colds this week.  Man, this is just a bit nasty.  It comes with a headache and cough.  The Dayquil and the Nyquil have been going down like water!!  All four of us have been stricken!!
The weather continues to be rainy and now the temperatures are falling below zero at night and it looks like this is what the whole week is going to be like.  Hopefully we get to see a bit of sunshine sometime this week.
Ray built me a cover for the bird feeder so now it can rain as often as it wants and my bird block will be spared the wrath of Mother Nature.  No longer will I have to cover it up with my ugly blue rubbermaid bin.  Now the birds can still eat when it rains!!
Thelma continues to be a regular visitor to the North 40 and remains a bit skittish.  Perhaps that is her natural instinct.  The Javalina continue to give her grief when they are around as they do not want her sharing the corn.  She seems to like that better than the bird seed!!
Kay and I stopped by the hardware store the other day to pick up some paint to paint the front flower bed with so that was on the agenda for this week.  With that being done, it was ready for the rosemary plants.
Lorne and Marilyn arrived on Friday so we had a good catch-up visit with them.  They will leave on Wednesday for their annual vacation.
Kay and I decided to do a bit more planting in the cactus circle out front so went and harvested a huge "rose" agave from another spot here in the park and then had Ray help us transplant it.  Man, the ground out there is so damn hard that we needed a pick to break the surface.  It is a good thing that we didn't have to dig it down too far!!  Anyway, it looks awesome where we planted it and we had about five babies from it to transplant as well.  The circle is slowly coming together!!
I did manage to get the weed sprayer out this week and did a rather intense spray job on all the weeds around the yard so in a few days, it should be looking much better!!
We finished the week off with a campfire and beverages and more conversation with Lorne and Marilyn.  We are headed for a road trip tomorrow so that is a great way to kick off the upcoming week.  Life is Good!!
