Sunday, February 19/2017 - Saturday, February 25/2017

The rain continues this week but it is supposed to be finished today.  Hopefully, there will be some sunshine tomorrow as Stefanie and Terry are still here for a few more days and we would love to take the quads out and show them the beauty of our desert.
With all the rain we have had, the desert is very green and the spring flowers will be making an early appearance!!  The ocotillo have already started to show their green leaves and will soon be forming their blossoms.  Of course all that green just hides the hideous thorns that cover each and every stem!!  Nice to look at but dangerous to touch!!
Monday arrived with the sunshine and we quickly got into the side by sides and headed for the trails. I rode with Ray in Cami, Terry and Steph were in Henrietta and John and Kay were in Kermit.  Booko stayed at home and he was not impressed by that.
We headed to Constellation Road and soon found a side trail to travel on.  Ray had been on this trail before and wanted to take us up onto one of the surrounding hills so that we could get a birdseye view of the area.  The trail was a bit of a challenge and was pretty steep in some areas but we all made it to the top and truly did get an incredible view.   We then headed back down the same trail, accessed another trail that eventually took us to "Old Stagecoach Road".  From here we slipped down into the wash and stopped for a weiner roast.   The day had turned out to be awesome as far as the weather went.   Once we finished eating, we headed over to the "China Wall".  The water was running at the wall and there was still an incredible amount of water running in the wash as well.  Man, the rain from the weekend had left a lot of water in the wash.  We travel through several riverlets as we made our way out of the wash.
Eventually, we made our way to the windmill and climbed out of the wash to the upper trails and headed for home.   We still had several miles to go and still had to find our way out of the backcountry as our previous trail had been closed down.  We did indeed find a way out and before too long, we were back home sitting around the campfire.  It had been an awesome ride and Terry and Stephanie seemed to enjoy it.  Tomorrow, they will be continuing on with their journey to California.
This week, we also took a quick trip to Congress and the Arrowhead Bar and Grill.  We enjoyed an adult beverage then headed towards Stanton and the "back" way home.  It was a nice ride but a bit bumpy.  The recent rains took their toll on this road as well.
By the end of this week, there was more rain in store for us so we once again, hunkered down in the mancave and when the rain stopped, we sat around the campfire.  Man, we will need to order another load of wood soon!!
