November 5/09

We started today with great anticipation of another awesome day on the trails. Today was not our day. We tried several trails only to be stopped by "PRIVATE PROPERTY - NO TRESPASSING" signs.
We stopped and spoke with a hunter who said that the folks around here had found some sort of loop hole in the law which allowed them to post these signs on designated roads that go through their property.
Disappointing, to say the least. We checked out a campground which was along the edge of the Fontenelle Reservoir. This campground was in the middle of the sage brush, not a tree to be seen for miles. We did note that there was a lean to over each picnic table, presumably to provide some shade in the summer.
We finally found a trail called Muddy Creek Road, which was the best trail of the day. Hogan had a couple of runs beside the truck today, so he will be tired tonight. He might not have the energy to chase the rabbit that has been hopping around the motorhome since we arrived, tormenting the hell out of him.
As you can see by the pictures, some of the sagebrush is taller than the truck. Some of the taller ones have thick stems and I am sure that this is what the pioneers would have had to use for firewood since there are very few trees in this area.
We also passed the historical Names Rock and if you look closely, you will see the name Jim Bridger Trapper 1844 engraved in the rock. Another historical site!!
Back at the bus early today. John can catch up on pictures for the blog and perhaps I will submit this one today as well.
