We travelled down Powerline Road which offered us a variety of terrain - one being thick deep sand. Wow, I don't think I want to be around in any significant wind around here as you are sure to be sandblasted unmercifully.
Powerline Road ended at the paved Alamo Road and we followed it until we veered off to hopefully find the road around the lake. This "road" turned into a two track skinny trail that was definitely not suitable for the truck. It looked like quads only so once again we were stymied. This will have to wait for another time. I can see a camping trip in the future as we did find plenty of camping spots so we could camp and explore this area in more depth.
Since the trip around the lake was out of the question we decided to do a road trip on the highway stopping at a few of the local watering holes along the way.
We made a few stops, one being the Cactus Bar in Salome. This is the town that Kay grew up in and she was able to chat with a few of the locals (who remembered her) and caught up on the news around town. Of course John and I had to buy Cactus Bar T-shirts so that we could say, "been there, done that, bought the t-shirt"!!
We eventually ended up back at Bouse were we stopped in at the Somewhere, Arizona Bar and then had our last drink at the Ocotillo Bar where we all had a chilli dog. Wow, it looked like dogfood on the plate and although I feel that chili and a hotdog don't really go together, it was pretty good!!
Not something that I would order again but now I can at least say that I have had a chili dog!!
