OK, I am suffering from "the old grey mare" syndrome this morning.  First things first…….more tylenol and no….. DO NOT ask me to move or do anything today.   I think John is truly out to kill me.  That trail yesterday has proven to me that I am definitely not "what she used to be"!!
It was a stay at home day today.  A day to sit and recover, to contemplate life, sip a few cool ones, catch up on my reading and have John cook me supper!!
Kay was in much the same frame of mind as well.  She too is recovering from yesterday's ride!!
When we parked here along Shea Road, we parked beside a memorial grave site for a 47 year old woman named Myra Benjamin.  A woman, who was obviously loved by the careful tending on this site.   We have spent a week with Myra wondering what could have happened to this woman and quietly paying our own respects to her.
Tonight, two vehicles pulled into our campsite.  This in itself was rather unusual as no one has come close to us in all this time.  Hmmmmm……we wondered what was up.
As it turned out, they were Myra's family - her husband, children and grandchildren.  Every year at this time they come and spend a few hours here at this site to remember and honour her.  Her husband came over to our fire and asked us if we would mind if they built a bonfire and stayed for a few hours to do this.  They didn't wish to disturb us but were hoping we wouldn't mind.  Of course we said "go ahead".
Just before they left, they all came over to thank us and said that this particular spot was one that Myra had loved and they often camped here.  She loved to watch her kids and grandchildren playing on the quads.  She died of a heart attack and left her family at too young of an age.  We all toasted her memory and the family then quietly left.
It was awesome and I somehow felt like Myra was close by enjoying her family.
