Garry

Sunday found me back at the nursing home to put in my final day shift of the season.  I have one more night shift then I am done and we are out of here.
Of course when the cat is away, the mice will play and that is quite apparent by the first two pictures of this blog!!  It certainly looks as if John and Gary have been sampling the fruit of the grape

or the barley in this case, while I have been slaving away at work.   Something just does not seem right about this whole thing!!
On Monday, I cooked a turkey supper for Thanksgiving and we invited Gary and Gale over to help us eat it.  Dave and Shirley had been invited to their daughter's house for supper so it was just the four of us.
Jace and Casey stopped by on their way back to Saskatoon as their long weekend was over as well.  It sounds like they had a good time and fun was had by all.  But, the Police tactical squad in full SWAT gear complete with assault rifles showing up added a bit of chaos to their weekend but everything turned out well.   Apparently one of the guys was sighting in his 22 rifle on a target he had set up and someone phoned the cops saying that they were  being shot at.  Of course the cops responded accordingly to what was reported.  Jace said it kind of made you think "What the hell..." when one saw cops creeping around the trees in full tactical gear and assault rifles drawn!!  Once the police realized that it was not an emergent situation, there were a few jokes, the rifle was checked out and the cops got back into their vehicles and headed out of the campground.  I am sure they were breathing a sigh of relief that they didn't have to deal with a madman running around shooting at people.  Obviously, the person that reported "shots fired" had either been embellishing or perhaps was drunk or who really knows!!  Either way, all turned out well.   The guys now have a good story for the upcoming years!!

Casey had taken his Jeep to the lake and used it for the weekend and somehow drove the hell out of it (no surprise there!!) to the point where it didn't quite make it back to our yard (it had a hole in the radiator and wasn't able to hold water).   He asked John and I to borrow Dave's car trailer to go and pick it up as it only made it a few miles from the lake.  With that task ahead of us, we asked Dave for the trailer and  headed over to the lake to pick up the poor abandoned vehicle.  Dave decided to go with us so we all headed out......beers in hand.  We were off on another adventure!!

Thanksgiving supper

We found the truck right where we were told it would be and surprisingly enough, it was still in one piece!!  The windows were intact and all four tires were still on it.
John got into it, started it up and was immediately surrounded by a huge cloud of blue smoke!!  OH, Oh......that can't be good!!  Even Dave make a comment about getting water into the engine!!  And we thought it just had a hole in the radiator!!  I'm thinking there are a few more issues with this truck than the radiator.
John drove the truck up onto the trailer and by the time Dave and him had it tied down, there was a puddle of oil on the trailer!!  Yes.....I am thinking that there is much worse problems that a hole in the radiator!!
We got the truck back to the yard without incident and it now sits waiting for some much needed love!!
On Thursday, I got a call from one of the girls asking if I could work the rest of her shift at the nursing home.   John and I are caught up in all our preparations for travel so headed over to finish off her shift.  While there, another of the girls asked if I could work a few hours for her on Friday so I agreed to do that as well.
It seems I am going out with a bang and it will all culminate with a 12 hour night shift on Saturday!!
Saturday arrived and there was a skiff of snow on the ground.  I let Booko out and he stopped dead on the steps and I could almost hear the voice in his head saying "what the heck is this stuff?"!! He eventually braved the foreign substance and I finally got to close the door and leave the cold air outside.  I am sure it is something that he is not going to get used to!!
All in all, life is good.  Even with a bit of snow on the ground!!
