Today was a long day of travel.  We headed out of Shoshone knowing we had a few miles of upper elevation to travel and hoping that the snow that was predicted to fall would hold off until we made the first pass which included a 9% grade.
Fortunately the pass went well despite the fact that there were some issues with poor visibility.  The snow had not started to collect on the highway and although the road was wet, it was not slippery. That was a very good thing!!
Once we hit Rawlins, Wyoming, it was a straight south trip towards the Colorado border.  Again today we were surrounded by herds of antelope and deer.  There were so many in some of the herds that you couldn't even count them.
The hunters were out in great numbers and I am sure there was success for many of them.  I have heard that antelope is a good tasting meat and would like to try some one day.  I must make friends with an antelope hunter!!
We crossed into Colorado today and had a few mountain passes to cross before we hit the Interstate that would lead us into Utah.  Once again a silently said a prayer to the Powers to watch over us and  keep the snow away.
We travelled through a few flurries but they were short lived and before too long, we had arrived at Rifle, Colorado and the mountain passes were behind us.  That is a very good thing!!  I can now breath a sigh of relief, thank the Powers and continue our travels knowing that the worse is probably behind us!!  There is still one area of upper elevation we have yet to travel through and that is the area around Flagstaff, Arizona but we will definitely cross that bridge when we get to it!!
There is usually one day on our travels that is considered "too long" and today was that day.  For some reason, we just couldn't seem to find a good spot to park for the night.  Of course it has been raining and snowing off and on all day and the side roads turn to horrible mud and corruption with that so we  simply carried on down the road.
We finally stopped just off Interstate 70  (exit 2) in an area called "Back in Time".  I assume it was an area where one could do a walking tour of some dinosaur tracks.  Well, this place would do for the night .
John got on the internet and found out that there was a recreational area just across the highway called Rabbit Valley so, decided that we would move over there tomorrow and check out some of the trails.
In the meantime, the "Back in Time" spot was good for tonight!!

Some fluries
