Today, we were greeted by two school buses loaded with kids headed off to do the "Back in Time" Trail.  Man, am I glad that John decided not to park in the parking lot!!  He chose to go a bit further up the road and that proved to be a very good thing!!  The kids unloaded and took off and we got the camper ready to move to the other side of the Interstate.
We accessed the Recreation area and found a sweet place to camp in amongst the Juniper trees.  We were far enough from the interstate so really did not get too much noise traveling across the grasslands.
We got set up and John got the quad out of the trailer.  We had a quick brunch then headed out onto the trails.  It would have been so much easier if there had been a supply of maps at the kiosk but being the end of the season, I imagine that that is really no longer a priority for the administrators of this area.
We headed out and soon found ourselves on a dirt bike only trail as there was no way in Heavens that we were ever going to be able to navigate this particular trail.   So.....we back tracked and found the proper trail and travelled it for several mile eventually crossing over in Utah via the trail system.  It was a pretty ride with the typical terrain one would expect for this area.  Lots of rocks, mesas and shelf trails (my favourite!!).

Our spot for a few days

We encountered a group of 4 mountain bikers and I can not help but marvel at their level of fitness to be able to navigate this varied terrain.  Man, it would be brutal, I am sure!!
We eventually made it to an old homestead that was nestled in the sagebrush along the Colorado River.  From here, we turned around and headed back towards camp.  It was getting later in the day and the wind on the top of the mesa was pretty damn chilly.  I was not looking forward to that stretch of the trail back.
We made it back to camp eventually and once again marvelled at the mountain bikers as they were travelling at a speed fast enough so that we never did see them again.  We did however follow their tracks home!!
Back at camp, it was almost time to watch the Thursday Night Football Game so John got the heater started in the trailer and I got the new fancy dancy chairs out so that by the time the game came on, we would be ready to sit and watch.
I had gotten an chill out on the trail today and did not seem to be able to shake it so had a quick shower then crawled into bed to warm up!! It took a good half hour to warm up but after that  I cooked supper and watch the end of the game.
All in all, it was a good day.
