Sunday, April 5/2015 - Thursday, April 9/2015

We were back out on the trails again this week.  MaryBeth has been coming along with us and enjoying the outings immensely.   She does not get the opportunity to explore the back country when we are not here so jumps at the chance to get out there.

Heading up Buckhorn Road
We headed out Constellation Road, hit Buckhorn and travelled the trail to Bradshaw's Grave.  We did stop and take several pictures of the flowers (no surprise there!!) and eventually did make it to the grave site.  MaryBeth had never been here before so she was quite interested in the area.
Angel's Trumpet.

A "big" plane.   Think it is a WW11 bomber.  They are apparently
giving rides on then out of Luke Airforce Base.

One cholla but two different colours or flower - cool!!

Ocotillo flowers
It was a lovely day for a ride and the trail offered a variety of terrain.

Heading to Snoopy Rock

Part of today's trail

We eventually did find Snoopy Rock and it was a good thing Kay was "on the ball" as John and I had both drove past it!!  I remembered it to be much bigger than it actually was!!  Thankfully, we got turned around and were able to take some pics of it on this trip.  I would have been totally "bummed" if we had travelled all this way and missed it!!

A "Kodak" moment for John.
We continued on in the wash and eventually found the access trail that took us back over to Buckhorn Wash.  It was a different way than what we had travelled before but ultimately, it was a much better way and we made good time as the road was wide and without much challenge.
Before too long we were back on Constellation Road and taking the "back way" home.  It was a good trip and we managed to arrive back at the park in pretty good time.

We spent the remainder of the week getting things ready for our return trip home.  We sat around the campfire each night and at times had an eight legged "guest" join us.  Although spiders are definitely NOT one of my favourite things in the world, this one was rather unassuming and simply stayed on the wall enjoying the heat from the fire and minding her own business!!
Our campfire guest

Kay and I took Ray to the airport this week for his trip to Mazatlan, Mexico so we were up early and headed into Sky Harbour before the morning rush hour.  Our trip was uneventful and we got Ray to the airport in time to catch his flight.  He will be gone for a week and will return by vehicle with Mike and Judy.  Hopefully he will have a great time and enjoy the sun and the surf.

With Ray gone, we thought it only prudent to maintain some degree of normalcy and since he often has fires in his little chiminea, we thought we would continue with that so gathered over at Ray and Kay's for our happy hour!!  It was fun and we even fed the pigs from Ray's stash of food!!

We took one more short trip out to Box Canyon this week as it would probably be the last trip of the season.  We scooted up the river bed to the canyon then up part of the Stanton Trail.  We then dropped into a wash, checked out a windmill and headed back towards Box Canyon and home.  It was a short but good trip.  Now, we really have to focus on getting the camper packed!!

Two "graves" - hopefully someone's idea of a joke!!
