Woke up this morning to the sounds of rain on the roof. Boy, it has been a while since I have heard that sound. There is always something comforting about this particular sound although I don't really know what it is. Hogan was awake and wanting to go out. I don't know if he was too impressed about going out into the rain but the call of nature often cannot be ignored!! I guess "city dog" will have to tough it out!!
It rained off and on all day today so what else is a girl supposed to do when faced with this kind of adversity? Well, she has a pyjama day!!!
It is a National holiday here in the States - Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was one of the greatest civil rights leaders the world has ever known. He made the infamous "I Have A Dream" speech to 250,000 Americans and set out on a campaign to end racial segregation on public transportation and to have racial equality in the United States of America. During his short life, he received 5 honorary degrees and was voted Man of the Year in Time Magazine in 1963. In 1964, he was the youngest man to have received the Nobel Peace Prize. This 39 year old peaceful, non-violent man, who stood for freedom, dignity, equality and hope was assassinated April 4, 1968. James Earl Ray was captured and later pled guilty to the murder and was sentenced to 99 years in prison. And that folks, is your history lesson for today!!!
