At the Arrowhead Bar

Sunday was a quiet day for John, Kay and I but Lorne, Marilyn, Wayne and Theresa headed over to New River and the Roadrunner Bar.  There is some good music over there and we all know how Marilyn loves her music.
Sunday was also Casey's birthday and I was able to send a few messages back and forth to him so that was awesome too.
On Monday, we headed over for a day in the canyon and alongside the Hassayampa River.  It was a sunny day and we had a great time once again.   Wayne managed to get some good pictures of a bat so that was pretty cool.  He flew down to grab a drink out of the river then hung himself upside down in a nearby tree.
Tuesday found Kay and I at a local business to get all the necessary paperwork sent off to the IRS.  It is that time of year for Americans to pay the piper!!  John and I will be doing the same thing once we get back to Canada!!
Wayne and Theresa took a drive over to Lake Pleasant to check out the campsites.  They were hoping to spend a few days over there before they had to head back home.   Lorne and Marilyn went with them and they came back with a site booked.  They will be leaving us tomorrow.
Kay and I also stopped by the trailer park and got the rattlesnakes from Ray.  He was not going to be doing anything with them so decided that we could have them.  So....we brought them home, sat them in the sunshine for a bit to start the thawing process and then skinned them.   I think it was about 13 snakes and they were all sitting in the glycerin and alcohol before the day was done.   Even Lorne came home in time to try his hand a skinning and he did pretty darn good!!  Lorne is always up for a challenge and snake skinning was apparently on his "bucket list".
On Wednesday,  John and I scooted into town as there was someone interested in buying the trailer.  It sound promising so I will keep my fingers crossed that we can finally start that process.
Thursday found us over at Lake Pleasant visiting Wayne and Theresa.  Imagine my surprise when I realized that their "camping spot" was on asphalt!!  What....who on earth camps on asphalt!!   Never in my life has any of our camping spot been on asphalt and we have been camping all  our lives!!   Oh well, once I got over that shock, I realized that it probably wasn't that bad.   They were parked not 10 feet from the lake and the water foul were abundant and not afraid of the campers at all.  Booko wanted to chase them but I was thinking that was not a good idea.  I am still not convinced that he is a swimmer!!
We came home via Castle Hot Springs Road and got to see a herd of wild burro.   It is always nice to see them and we managed to get a few good pictures.  Castle Hot Springs Resort is currently under new ownership and is undergoing a HUGE renovation.  Millions of dollars are being invested to get it back to its "old glory".  Apparently, in its day, it was a resort for the rich and famous - Kennedy and Rockefeller famous!!   It was also used for a recovery spot for wounded soldiers during WW11.
Anyway, once the renovations are done it will once again be for the wealthier folks in the country with rooms costing between $800.00 and $1500.00 a night!!  Definitely not a spot we will be stopping at any time soon!!
On Friday,  we all decided that it was time for "all you can eat" fish fry at the Arrowhead Bar and Grill.   A fun time was had by all, the waitress got a good tip and we were all fed and watered ....too much!!   Of course once we got home the party continued over in the casita!!  Good Grief!!
Booko found another Sonoran Desert Toad tonight and once again got by unscathed.   It is a good thing he is cowardly and non aggressive as he only pushes them around with his nose instead of biting them.  John to the rescue again.  He got the toad into a bucket and released it out in the desert where both him and Booko are safe.
Saturday was a "day of rest".  We all needed some quiet time after the busy week and of course the party last night!!   No one wanted to own up to being "hung over" but, we were all "tired"!!
Life is Good!!
