A great pile of logs.  These harvested from around Deer Lake.
They had hauled them to the gravel pit by the North Road

Truckee is dwarfed by the logs
We arrived back home in Leoville on the 12th of May.  Finally, our long journey had come to an end and it truly was good to be back home.  All the snow had finally melted and the grass was a welcoming site.  Booko had not seen an expanse of grass in months.  Neither had we and it was awesome to see.
John got the RV set into place and we were soon ready to just sit and relax and enjoy our surroundings knowing that we didn't have to wake up in the morning and drive for hours.  Now that was a good feeling!!
Gary, our neighbor greeted us back from the other side of the fence and we had a social distancing beer.  He sat on his side of the fence and we sat on ours!!  It wasn't ideal but there were rules set out for us to follow during this pandemic.
Deer Lake
We got a call from the Public Health Officials this week, checking on us and asking if we were experiencing any symptoms of the Corona virus.  Were we feeling sick, had a fever or any cough or had any flu symptoms?   I responded "no" as so far, neither John nor I had any symptoms and we were both grateful for that.  She reiterated the 14 day mandatory quarantine but did mention that we could drive down the North Road to allow the dog to run.  But.... we were not allowed to gather in any sort of group situation for the 14 days.   Well that was okay with us as it is very seldom that we ever meet anyone in the bush so basically, our life carried on much the same despite our quarantine.
To get groceries from the store, all I had to do was phone in my order and they were more than happy to deliver them.  We etransferred the amount owing ;and that was that.  Easy Peasy!!  Holy Buckets, I didn't even have to leave the yard to get beer!!  LOL.  Life is Good!!

Otter Lake
John got Truckee out and we headed out for a few trips this week.  We travelled to Deer Lake and then we travelled to Otter Lake.  Booko I think missed his runs but we did notice that he was still limping a bit on his left hind leg and I fear that he may have a bit of arthritis setting in as this limp has plagued him for a few months now.

Blown beaver dam at Vimy Lake
We stopped by Vimy Lake on one of out trips and noticed that someone had blown the beaver dam apart and much of the lake water had drained down the creek.  The water level was really low in the lake and I couldn't help but feel sad for the ecosystem and how this senseless act had altered the balance so drastically.  John and I did see two of the resident beavers swimming around and I couldn't help but encourage them to get busy with rebuilding the dam.
What is left of Vimy Lake after it drained from the blown
beaver dam.  Not sure why anyone would want to alter the
ecosystem like that.

Truckee at Vimy
John decided that it was time for a new side by side so put our sweet little "kermit" up for sale and it wasn't too long before we had a sale.  Some fellow wanted it , put down and deposit and then came and picked it up this week.  Of course everyone observed the social distancing thing during the sale so that was a good thing.    We said goodbye to Kermit and thanked him for lots of good memories!!
Now comes the tasks to John looking for a replacement and he has a pretty good idea about what it is he wants.
Its been a busy week but it has been a good week.  The weather has. been a bit of a pain with the occasional rain storm but that is good for the forest fire situation which, has been minimal.
Life is Good!!
