John has decided to move camp as well. We are headed over to the south side of the interstate so that we will be closer to the many trails in the southern part of the Swell.
With that in mind, we packed up and headed over to one of the many spots we checked out yesterday during our drive along Temple Mountain Road.
Rain is once again threatening and it did manage to "spit" on us while setting up camp but it stopped as quickly as it started. The clouds tend to build quickly around here. One minute it is clear and sunny and the next, the clouds have moved it and it is cloudy. The weather is most definitely unpredictable and of course, with this much rock surrounding us, flash floods are a real threat in the canyons. Good thing we are camping in the benchlands where the worst thing to happen is we get wet!!
Once the clouds disappeared, we decided to take a bit of a road trip and accessed a wide trail that took us into the backcountry of the benchlands.

And the sun goes down on another awesome day! |
Here we encountered two other vehicles also travelling this same road. They were stopped to observe yet another small herd of eight wild burros. Once again, they were not too terribly worried about us and we managed to get fairly close to them and of course took several pictures.
As we continued our travel, we made a huge circle around one of the many hills and eventually were spit back out onto the main road.
It was on this road that we encountered a broken down Scrambler quad. We offered assistance and while there, part of their group came by and we were able to carry on back to camp.
Back at camp, we started another fire and enjoyed the evening once again, waiting for the sunset. It didn't disappoint and we finished off the evening with grilled chicken and bacon ranch potatoes. OMG….Mmmmmm….soooo good!!
