Leaving camp

Heading down the highway
Today's travel took us through more unique Utah scenery.  It was much less windy today.  We travelled numerous steep climbs and back down with the biggest being a 10% grade.  The truck did well again today and before too long we were coming into Moab.   The Mecca for jeep enthusiasts from all over.  Everywhere we looked, there were jeeps.  Jeeps of every size, shape and colour.  Some were lifted high off the ground and others were stock.   All of them, looking for adventure.  Since John and I have travelled most of the trails around here, we knew there was a kind of adventures awaiting these drivers. The back country is as beautiful as what is offered along the highway.
More incredible scenery

Coming into Moab
We stopped and did a bit of shopping in Moab before heading out to the camping spot.  We have stayed in this particular area before so were hoping that there was a spot available.  We were lucky enough to find one and since we are only staying for the night, it did not matter to us that there was another camper close by.

Jeeps of every kind, shape and colour. It is the annual Easter Jeep Safari

Jeeps everywhere!!

Tonight's camping spot.
Willow Springs Road, just outside of Moab, Utah
It was a nice spot to camp for the night and we were able to enjoy some late afternoon sunshine before the sun set.   Of course, once the sun was gone, the chill set in and we ended up getting the "campfire in a can" out and huddling around it.  Eventually I had to get my jacket and my good old "Mountain Man" hat on.  I looked like a goof but I was warm!!

Tonight's scenery

It is getting chilly

Much chillier!!
Even Hogan had to get his jacket on tonight.  Eventually he said "to hell with this" and went inside the camper where he was much warmer!!
The moon came up (I think it was almost a full moon) and John and I enjoyed the rest of the evening.  Hot Toddies were on the menu tonight to stave off the chill.  That and an awesome steak finished off our day.
