Well, it is supposed to rain today but right now it looks pretty good. Hogan is out trying desperately to catch the birds! It is quite impressive when he goes into his "stealth mode" and tries to catch them!! They must get quite a kick out of his nonsense!! I think that the birds realize that they really have nothing to worry about.
As the afternoon progressed the clouds started to build and we knew that rain was in the forecast.
We had an older four wheel drive truck try and make it across the sandy wash beside to bus and managed to get itself quite stuck so John went out with the little tracker and hooked a winch cable onto him and pulled them out of the mess they were in. It was a woman driving and she had apparently just purchased the truck and already the four wheel drive mechanism was not engaging so I hope she didn't pay too much for it!! I did manage to take a few pics of the rescue!!
The rain did eventually fall but it was a gentle rain so I didn't expect any drama with the washes. The desert can always use the rain although the locals here say that this year, an extra ordinary amount of rain has fallen in the area. Wouldn't you know that we picked this year to enjoy this phenomenon with these folks!! I still say - better the rain than the snow!!
