August 2019

stuck in the mud
August started out great.  Jace had finally sold his semi and the trailer.  When he broke his ankle earlier this year, he decided that he wanted a change from being an :over the road" trucker.  He decided to go back and work on the farm with his friend Bryce.  Bryce is a big grain farmer and was in need of some good farm workers so Jace decided to help him out,.  He has always enjoyed farm work and this was a good opportunity to get back to it.
Casey and Marissa stopped by again on their way home from the lake.  They seemed to have had a good time camping.  Both dogs looked like they just wanted to get home and rest!!
John and I were invited over to the lake as Jace and Kimmy were still there.  She made a big pot of Scoff or as Jace calls it....water spaghetti.  It is simply spaghetti and meat sauce with out the thickness of the sauce.  It has a thin tomato base and hence the "water" title!! It is delicious and I always get Kimmy to make me some when ever I visit her.
This month too, saw Jace and Kimmy moving to their own acreage outside of Martensville.  The house is huge (too huge for just the two of them) but the yard is awesome.  It is well landscaped and the amount of grass is going to require much tending!!  It is a good thing that the acreage came with a riding lawn mower!!  The yard also came with a thousand gophers so out came the 22 rifle and the shooting began!!

dog run and beer cruise on one of the many trails
We took several trips into the trails with Dave and Shirley and the dogs.  Those darn dogs run around like crazy.  Booko and Reggie tend to gang up on Jake who is a Great Pyrenees.  Jake however wastes no time in running right over the other two.  Plus, he loves being in the water and Booko and Reggie are not water lovers so whenever things get a bit too much for Jake, he simply goes and stands in the water!!
Casey and Marissa went on one of our dog runs so there were five dogs running around like idiots.  Roxy of course had to find some bear shit to roll in so Casey had to take her into the closest water hole and give her a quick bath.  She was not impressed nor was Casey!!

Casey, Marissa, Rosy and Nix joined us on one of our dog runs.
Kimmy bought a jeep for herself to run back and forth in.  Since Jace was taking the truck back and forth to the farm, she needed a vehicle so ended up buying a jeep.  She loves it and calls her Ruby!!
Gary too got a new truck this month as well.   He had a ton of miles on his old one so decided he wanted a new one.  It is a pretty blue color but I don't think he has gone to the extreme of giving it a name!!
The weather this month was a mixture of rain and sun and I'm thinking more rain than sun.  At least we have not had to worry about forest fires this year so that is a good thing.
There has been no news on the hip replacement so I guess it is just a waiting game.
It's been another good month with lots of visitors and a few outside fires in the fire pit.
Life is Good!!
