Saturday, November 4/2017 - Sunday, November 5/2017

It was rather dreary outside when I got up on this fine Saturday morning but at least I could see blue skies so I was hoping for sunshine a bit later in the morning.  As it turned out, the sun did shine for a while and then it clouded over and once again.....turned dreary.
The temperature is at least reasonable so that is a good thing!!
It is quiet here and that too, is a good thing.  In today's busy world, it is nice to sometimes just sit, take a deep breath and enjoy the peace and solitude of "quiet".  I could get used to that!!
It was a good day to just sit back, catch up on the blog, read a bit from my kindle and generally just rest.
Booko enjoyed the freedom to come and go at will and with us not having to worry about him well, that just made things a whole lot easier.  He cruised around the campsite never straying too far from home.
Today, was the Saskatchewan RoughRider Football game to see if Our Riders were going to be playing for a final berth at the Grey Cup in the Western division or having to cross over into the Eastern division. With a win, they get to stay in the West but lose and they have to cross over to the Eastern division.   Either way, it will not be a cake walk for them in either division and they MUST win their upcoming game in order to advance.  Lose......and you are gone!!
As it turned out, the Riders lost and will now play for a berth in the Eastern Division.   There is still hope for a spot in this year's Grey Cup Game so we will keep our fingers crossed and maybe, even our toes.
John got the campfire going after the game and we sat around it for a while.  The wind had finally gone down and it was time to get supper going.  Saturday night and steak and a baked potato were on the menu along with John's favourite.....cottage cheese!!  Oh dear....that just seems wrong to me!!  I opened a can of beans for me!!  It was an awesome way to end a good, quiet day.
On Sunday, the sun was once again shining although there were a few clouds in the sky as well.  The temperature was awesome and before too long, it was time to turn on the TV and get into all the Sunday NFL games that would be played.  John and I are not doing well on the football board and coming "close" just doesn't cut it!!  Kay has not won a pot yet either so all three of us are sucking!!
John spent part of the day looking up sites were we might be able to ride the quads.  There are several in the area we are hoping to see and once we hook up with Kay, we can head over to the trails and enjoy a few days of riding.
Of course I had to finish off my kindle book and start a new story so that took up much of the day.  I did manage to get the dishes done and the floor swept so that is a good thing too.
Booko was again, in and out enjoying his life.
At one point, John was outside and noticed Booko staring off down the trail so went to see what he was so interested on and found three mule deer standing not too far away watching Booko,  watch them!!  It was pretty cool to see and they were not too concerned by John or Booko as they stood around for several minutes while John took their picture and alerted me that we had deer close by. They didn't even seem too concerned when I joined John and Booko to watch them.  They simply stood there watching us, watch them!!  After several minutes, they wandered off and then Booko had to go and sniff the area and "check it out"!!
Once several of the football games were over,  John decided that it was time for another fire.  This would be our final "shaggy wood" fire.  Now, there are several types of juniper trees and the ones around this area are considered "shaggy" as their bark looks like shaggy uncombed hair.  It is great for campfires and burns easily.  There is a TON of deadfall around here so finding wood was no problem.    Another good fire for the evening, an awesome supper and once again, it was time to call it a day.   It has been a good two days here at this sight and I certainly would not hesitate coming back here again.
Tomorrow is a travel day but these last two days here have been rather refreshing.   Life is Good!!
