Sunday, February 7/2016 - Saturday, February 13/2016

Well, the weather has certainly warmed up and I of course, have been sweating like a dog!!  I am certainly not looking forward to the increasing temperatures as not only do I tend to suffer a bit more but it also brings out all the creepy crawly things like snakes and scorpions and spiders!!  Something else I now have to be on the lookout for!!
It is far past time that we finally lay Hogan to rest so Kay and I started to dig the hole where he will be buried.  The ground was fairly hard to dig but we managed to get it done and now he rests right below the mesquite tree beside the fireplace.  He shall forever be warm!!
This week, we started with the monumental clean up that remains in the park now that all but one of the remaining residents have vacated the premises.  It is a huge undertaking but if we work a few hours at a time, it eventually will get done and then the owner can bring his crew in and the landscaping transformation will get underway.  Man, I hate to wish my life away but I am sure there will be quite a change in the place when we arrive back here in the fall.
Since Mitch too has left, we managed to scavenge one window airconditioning unit for our trailer and one for the man cave as well.  Both were in good working order so that was a bonus.  Now, as the weather heats up, at least we can cool down both the inside of the trailer and the man cave.  It will be a much welcomed addition to our home here in Arizona.
John continues to work on the back deck and this week saw the addition of the railing and the roof.  I am not sure if the rolled roofing will get on this week but if not, then that will be on the agenda for next week!!

An AWESOME surprise this week.   Jace and Kimmy stopped by.

antics around the campfire!!
John and I had the most awesome surprise this week when Jace and Kimmy stopped by for a few nights.  They had an unload in Tuson so decided to let Kay and Ray know they were hoping to stop by and to help with the surprise.  WELL,  I must say, I was stunned to see them and when they walked around the corner of the shed, it took a minute to sink in!!  I was MORE than thrilled to see our kids and yes, I did cry ..... a little!!

The following day, Jace and Kimmy headed into Mesa for a pick up and were back in time for us to show them one of the neat little features around here.    Box Canyon is just a short distance from here so we climbed into the side by sides and headed out.  Jace and Kimmy took Kermit and fun was had by all.   Of course this is America and Kay had her gun so both Jace and Kimmy got to shoot it!!  More fun was had by all!!  Man this particular gun is really quite loud when it shoots!!

We were hoping that the kids got to stay a bit longer but unfortunately, that was not the case and they left the following day.  It was a short visit but one I was starving for.  Only one Javilina made an appearance for Kimmy but she got to see Mr. Roadrunner and numerous birds.  Of course the hummingbirds put on their usual show!!

Once the kids left, it was back to the cleanup.  It is coming along quite nicely and Kay and I have single handily cut a shit ton of wood for the fireplace.  It consists mostly of 2x4s and 2x6s but they burn as well as anything else and we have saved a ton of money on buying wood this year!!  With any luck, we won't have to buy any wood until next season!!  Life is good!!
