Today, John is scheduled for his surgery - one step closer to the end of this adventure. He went into surgery at 12:30 and was back in his room at 5:00. A bit longer than was expected but the external fixation is off and the internal fixation is done and he now has a brace on the leg. Still not able to weight bear for about 3 months but that is okay.
While I was at the hospital, Jace moved the motorhome to the campground thus freeing up Larry and Ariane's driveway for their RV. I didn't tell John about the need to move because I thought he didn't need the extra stress (with the impending surgery and now the need to move). I decided to put my "big girl" panties on and make the necessary decisions.
I returned to the bus around 10:30pm and Jace and Bri had just finished setting up the bus. Jace got a late call to go back to work early Saturday morning so had to move the bus tonight - not ideal but necessary. We had a quick pizza supper then the kids went home and Hogan and I went to bed. Another long day over and done --Thank you Lord. P.S. - I finally remembered to phone John's Mom and let her know that John had his surgery and all went well.

Both John and I up early (much to John's horror!!) and at the hospital by 8AM. Time for his CT scan of that knee and impending surgery to have the knee fixed - finally! Long story short, surgery rescheduled for Friday but at least he has a bed and thanks to our dear friend Shelly, he has a private room. John owes you a big one Shells!!! This procedure took most of the day and I eventually was able to get back to the bus. I phoned Casey, asked if he had had supper yet and since he hadn't, I went and picked him up and we spent the evening together, eating supper and chatting. It was good.
Ariane mentioned that her and Larry needed to bring their RV home so I decided that I would move the motorhome to a campground. This would clear their driveway and I could hook up to water and sewer - killing two birds with one stone. I think more about this tomorrow.

Wednesday, May 5/2010

Awake early and off to have coffee with Jan. While there, I received a call from the Orthopedic Surgeon and was told to have John over at the hospital this afternoon to see the orthopedic trauma surgeon on call. Perhaps we will get some answers as to what happens next.
Took John in and 6 1/2 hours later we were finally told that John needed to be admitted BUT there were no beds ( imagine that!!). He had xrays and blood work and we left with instructions to return at 8AM for CT scan of his knee and impending surgery. Those 4 pins sticking out of his leg need to come out BUT the dilemma is "then what" --- do they put screws and a plate in there to stabilize the fracture or do they put a fancy dancy brace on it and let it heal on its own. There are going to be 2 or 3 surgeons deciding just what to do. I think I am getting another headache!!!
Either way, Hogan and I will once again be on our own for a few days!! PARTY ON!!!!

Woke up to SNOW on the ground. What the heck is with that? April showers and all but come on!!!
Phoned the orthopedic surgeon's office this morning - spoke with his secretary and she told me to bring the CDs from Phoenix to the office today and she would speak to the doctor and if John needed to see him, she would hopefully get him in at the clinic tomorrow afternoon. I will keep my fingers crossed.
Spoke with Shelly today - we are going to have an awesome garden!!
Rain and snow fell all day and the ground is now white. It is a good thing that it is not below zero or the roads would be in terrible condition. Maybe now we can get on with spring and sunshine. I miss the Arizona sunshine!!

Over to Jan's this morning for coffee then back to the bus to check on John. Jace sent a text to me asking if I would go and let Coors ( the granddog) out for a pee so I ended up taking both him and Hogan out to the field by the old house and wacked the tennis ball around for them until they were tired. I didn't realize that their tongues were so long!! Both these dogs will sleep well tonight!!
Larry and Ariane in for a quick visit then time for supper and a little TV before bed.

Saturday, May 1/2010

It is a good thing that Hogan and I are early risers because Jace sent me a text asking if the coffee was ready and what was for breakfast. We had a nice visit then off he went to do his running around. Larry came in for coffee and I headed out to pick up a few things at the store since Jace invited himself and Bri for supper.
Tyler and Shondra stopped by for a quick visit. It was nice to see them again. They are building a new house and are all excited about it.
Supper was awesome. Jace can cook a steak as well as John on the bbq. We watched the latest Transformer movie after supper, Jace and Bri went home and John and I headed to bed. All in all, a good day.
