Sunday, September 30/2018 - Saturday, October 6/30128

This week is the start of Moose Hunting and Gary is so pumped to get one.   He has been so busy out at his stand preparing and trying to lure in a moose that I truly hope he is successful again this year.  He is very generous with his kills and if he gets one then I know that John and I will get a few feeds of moose meat before we leave.
Success was on Gary's side again this year and he was able to make a kill on the second day of the season.  Because he is building a new garage, he asked John if he minded if he hung it in our shop for a few days before him, Dave and Shirley cut it up.   Of course the answer was yes and poor old Booko was quite nervous of it.   He just didn't know what the heck it was and gave it a wide berth when he was in the shop!!
I worked two shifts this week and also recertified for my CPR.  I guess it is a yearly thing now so needed to be done.  It was held in Spiritwood this year so I hitched a ride with one of the other girls who had to attend as well.
The week went by quickly but I did manage to get a few more things scratched off my "to do" list as well.   Life is Good!!

I worked four shifts this week but John and I managed to get two more loads of wood from the forest. Of course a lot of this needed to be split and I am thankful that we purchased a log splitter a few years ago.  This makes the job a whole lot easier.  Slowly but surely, the woodshed is getting full.   We are well on our way to having a full wood shed for the upcoming year and that is a very good thing!!   Life is Good!!

Sunday, September 16/2018 - Saturday, September 22/2018

It was a very busy week for me at the nursing home as I was scheduled to work 5 shifts so needless to say, I really did nothing around the yard.
The weather was getting chillier in the evenings and we often snuggled down in our recliners in the man cave watching TV thinking about all the stuff we had yet to do to get ready to leave.   Tomorrow
was another day ...... Life is Good!!

Sunday, September 9,2018 - Saturday, September 15/2018

Sunday ushered in "The Banjo Bowl" and the football Gods brought us home with a win!!  That is always a good thing and gives the Riders bragging rights!!  I t truly is a cool rivalry.
I only had to work two shifts this week so spent the time getting my lists ready for what needed to be done before John and I leave for Arizona in October.
There is always things that need to be taken and things one thinks about on a daily basis.  This then is the reason for lists!!
Things need to be done and things need to be bought and things that need to be put away.   It was time to start getting ready to head out.   It can not be done in one day so I take pride in scratching off the "things" on the list as the time to leave draws closer!!
John decided to get the little woodburning stove up and working so spent this week doing just that.  There were a few snags to work out but he got it working and I'm sure we are going to be spending several evening around this little cutie!!
With us burning wood in the wood stove, the need for more became rather obvious so,  off we went out to the forest and where there had been some clear cutting and we gathered what we could stack into the back of the Sami.  Remarkably, it was quite a bit!!
Life is Good!!

Sunday, September 2/2017 - Saturday, September 8/2017

This week brought us the September long week end and that meant it was the Labour Day Classic football game where our arch rivals the Winnipeg Blue Bomber play our Saskatchewan Roughriders. It is usually an awesome game and one we don't like to miss.  It was awesome with the Riders winning and sending the Bombers back to Winnipeg with a loss.  The Bango Bowl is played on the 9th of September and hopefully when we head into Winnipeg we will come away with another win!!
This was also the week that the NFL season starts so John and I will be very busy watching football on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturday, and Sundays!!   Woo hoo!!  Our football pool starts up too and that is always fun because you know,  we could win!!
We managed to take a few trips to Buck Lake this week.  The colors are changing on the leaves of the trees,  heralding in a change of season.  It is quite pretty out in the forest now. Booko is loving his runs and of course it is a nice little "booze" cruise for us as well.

Buck Lake

The garden was cleaned out finally and that is awesome.  I dug potatoes until I was too tired to continue so ended up asking my neighbour Ashley if she wanted to dig the rest and use them for her family.  She agreed and I was happy about that!!   I am really considering NOT planting a garden in the spring!!  Well I will need to plant cucumbers for relish and beets for pickles and maybe some peas for the dog!!  LOL
Oh well, that can be decided later........Life is Good!!

Sunday, August 26/2017 - Saturday, September 1/2017

This week was highlighted by our trip into Saskatoon to see Dr Ravi and to pick up our new glasses at the optometrist's office.
Once John got the all clear from Dr. Ravi, we headed over to get our glasses then made a quick stop at Walmart and headed back to Leoville.
The trip makes for a long day and I was glad to finally get back home.
I only had a couple of shifts to work this week and we did get to take Booko for a few runs.
His limp is pretty much gone now and he is slowly getting some muscles back into that leg.   It is good to see him finally walking "normal".
Slow but sure and he seems to really enjoy his outings.   Life is Good.....even for the dog!!

Sunday, August 19 - Saturday, August 25/2017

More adventure this week with John being diagnosed with Shingles!!  Good grief.....I do wonder what is in store for us in the future!!
I got off a night shift, has a quick sleep and hauled him into the clinic in Spirtwood where we got the diagnosis and a prescription for an antiviral.   Hopefully we got it in time and there will be limited or no side effects from them.
Unfortunately they were on his head and forehead and headed towards his nose and eye.  That is NOT a good place to get them.   Well,  there is really no "good" place to get them but the face is really bad for fear that they break out in your eyeball and attack your vision.
We left with clear instructions that if the lesions proceeded to his eyebrow and below,  we were to get back into the clinic as this was considered an emergeny and he would need to be seen by and opthamologist immediatly in order to treat any damage that may occur and consequently damage his vision.
The following day found us back at the clinic when his eye was checked out (no lesions seen) but it was probably a good idea to have an opthamologist check it out just ot make sure.
Now we have a very dear friend who unfortunately got shingle lesions in her eye and she had terrible pain and vision problems so both John and I knew how she suffered and neither of us were planning on going down that road if we could help it.
Soooo...... off to Saskatoon we went to see Dr. Ravi (the opthamologist) and have his eye checked out.   It checked out well so we were both glad of that!!
I guess we got on top of the shingles virus fast enough and for that we are both thankful.  As far as the shingles vaccine goes,  John is not able to get it until 1 year after an outbreak and I am scheduled to have it before leaving for Arizona!!  Life is Good.....
